This day trip is an exploration by kayak supported by a native outrigger banca boat or our luxury Admiral 38 sailing catamaran of the entire northwest coast of Coron Island, the direction of travel dependent upon the prevailing wind. (In general, from June to September we will head from west to east and from October to May from east to west.) It is very much NOT a bucket list trip.

Provided the catamaran is available, it’s your choice to opt for the cat rather than the native banca. There’s a premium of 45% charged for the comfort, convenience, relaxed ambience and ease of boarding and disembarkation of the catamaran. There’s also the outboard dinghy for shore visits, as well as a  bathroom on board. Also offered is a sundowner in addition to morning merienda, lunch and afternoon merienda.

Using either boat, you’ll discover what regular tourists on group trips miss: private aqua-blue lagoons, a cave or two, wildlife like sea eagles, kingfishers, monkeys, monitor lizards & sea turtles. In short, serenity! But also relevant, insightful explanation about the island of Coron and its surrounding waters that are so treasured by its Indigenous custodians, the Tagbanua.

With the convenience of riding a motorised outrigger banca or catamaran “Tribal Adventures” — both with personal sea kayaks atop — we effort to give the tourist traps a wide berth, to allow you to better fall in love with the serenity, beauty and majesty of Coron Island the Tribal way–by paddling.

In so doing, you will glide in to the nooks and crannies of an environment that is in National Geographic’s Top Ten list of places to visit on the planet.

And, yes, later when you thought you already had a vista overload, you may see Kayangan Lake and gaze down at the extraordinarily picturesque view of the lagoon below–arguably Philippine tourism’s most photographed natural scene. But if the sea of humanity is too great in Kayangan Lake we will opt for Barracuda Lake, a thermal, meaning if you can free dive 17 metres you’ll get yourself into hot water! However, if there’s over-tourism in both locations we’ll stay well away, and veer to exploring only the quiet and hidden spots like secret lagoons accessible only to sea kayaks. The same principle of not contributing to over-tourism applies to Twin Lagoon, Skeleton Wreck and other tourist “hot spots”.

Invariably, even when tourists are overflowing, we can find a time when the crowds dissipate from the places so loved to death. Often that’s at the standard time for lunch–11.30am to 1.00pm. That’s often the window. Lunch for us can wait! Afterall, Tribal Adventures loves to treat our tour participants to late morning snacks, called merienda, which conveniently extends our lunch hour to 1.00-2.00pm or beyond.

Snorkels and masks are supplied for snorkeling over reefs like Siete Pecados, Atwayan, Caps Point.

Food is freshly prepared, and as the trips are private, you may inform us ahead of your food and drink dos and don’ts. And, yes, everything’s included: from your Coron hotel pick-up to your hotel drop off at the end of your tour in the late afternoon.
